At Goldfields Baptist College, we believe that God created every child as a unique individual.

The Early Childhood programme is built around the following understandings:
At Goldfields Baptist College, the programmes are purposeful and appropriate to the child's current thinking, interests and ways of learning. Activities encourage children's autonomy, intellectual risk taking, responsibility and control of learning.
As a small school, our teachers have the opportunity and luxury to use strategies including explicit approaches with whole-class, small-group and individual encounters to best serve our students' learning needs.
GBC is a very warm, welcoming and supportive place. Students are each valued individually, in accordance with Imago Dei. GBC is extremely pleased to welcome a very wide demographic within the student, family and staff bodies, with students born in over 20 different countries, constituting over 30% of our student body being born overseas and over 30 different languages spoken as a primary language at home.
While we are all on a journey and growing each and every day, our students are kind to one another, celebrating each other's strengths and successes in conquering challenges. This is best captured at our sporting carnivals, when students who struggle to finish their race are cheered on by the entire student body, with everyone celebrating their victory when they reach the finish line! We do not accept unkind or hurtful behaviour at GBC, with students and staff alike standing against this kind of conduct.
Kindergarten students have two enrolment options available to them. Families may enrol their child into a four-day week option (attendance on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays), or a three-day week option (attendance on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays).
Pre-Primary is the first year of compulsory schooling in Western Australia, so all students are expected to attend full days, Mondays-Fridays, on all school days, except under extenuating circumstances, which can be discussed with staff.
Students in Early Childhood have some age-appropriate involvement in the College's Carnivals each year. Both Kindergarten and Pre-Primary students are able to run in the College's Cross Country Carnival, running an 80m track, cheered on by the entire College.
Students from Kindergarten-Year Two participate in a Water Fun Day Carnival at GBC, while Years Three-Twelve participate in the College's Swimming Carnival. Students from Kindergarten-Year Two participate in the Little Olympics, following the College's Athletics Carnival.

The College canteen reinforces nutrition messages being taught in the classroom by modelling healthier food and drink choices that are tasty, interesting and affordable. This has the potential to influence food choices by students in the wider community, and help to equip students with the knowledge they need to continue to make healthy choices throughout their adult lives.
The role of the College canteen is to provide a food service to students and staff that is part of a whole-school approach that supports healthy eating, is affordable and financially sustainable.
As part of our endeavour to have a healthy school, we encourage students to reduce their intake of sugar and caffeine and, therefore, do not have soft drinks for sale at the canteen. For the same reason, students are not permitted to bring soft drinks or caffeinated drinks to school. Students who bring soft drinks and/or highly caffeinated 'energy' drinks on-campus will have them confiscated.
Canteen orders should be placed in the boxes outside the Primary area before school, or students and parents can order from the Canteen online through Compass. EFTPOS is available at the College Canteen.
Orders can be purchased online via Compass, following the Canteen link. If you order online, your order will be available for collection on Wednesdays from 2:45pm-3:45pm.
If you are attending the Uniform Shop in person, we are able to accept Cash and EFTPOS for new Uniform items.
Cash payments are required for the purchase of second-hand uniform items and second-hand text books.
It is not compulsory for Kindergarten students to wear the College Uniform, however the College Sports Uniform may be worn, at parents' discretion.
Pre-Primary students wear the College Sports Uniform at all times.

For a full refund on return of new items, they must have the label or tag still attached and be unsoiled, undamaged and in original packaging.

Goldfields Baptist College uses Office National as our primary supplier for our annual book lists. Families may choose to order through Office National, or source the listed items through another supplier, if preferred. If families are sourcing items through another supplier, they are asked to please ensure that items at least meet the specified sizes/dimensions/function of all items listed. Staff are careful not to add arbitrary items to the book lists, so please ensure that the listed quantities are met, for students completing the entire year in a class. Families who may be enrolling mid-year should speak with College staff about book list quantities.
